Everyday life of the Photoshop team.
“Shall we add some useful new features in this version? Perhaps Lazy Mouse or incremental undo for brush strokes?” “Nah lets add 3D, that’ll be REALLY useful.” Every time I use the brush tool in Photoshop I wish for both lazy mouse and incremental undo… and every time I’m reminded they squandered time and money on the useless 3D feature. And this is coming...

Muse →
As a digital designer I’m actually insulted that Adobe is investing time, staff and money in creating a product to make it easier for print designers (I’m guessing this is the goal seen as it’s InDesign inspired) to create web pages. If you want to help web designers then invest time and money in Fireworks or a true Fireworks sucessor (NOT created with Adobe Air). I would...

Resize controls
Love how Adobe wasted their time developing a non-standard 8 corner resizing system for all their applications… then Apple releases their own system which still leaves the Adobe products feeling woefully hacked together because they wrote their own glitchy shit in the first place when it’s not their responsibility to decide what is an OS shortcoming and what should be fixed by them regarding...

Underline in Flash
Hey Flash team? Would it fucking kill you to put a button in to underline text? I mean seriously I’m expected to open up Actionscript just when I want to add a fucking underline? Yet more evidence the Flash team doesn’t even bother using their shitty piece of software anymore to make Flash content.

Adobe Edge Prototype Demo →
Now this is more like it Adobe, a demo of a new HTML5 animation editor. Looks impressive but from the demo the UI appears to be Air or similar to the Flash parts of the Flash IDE, judging from the dodgy tooltips and font rendering. Now thats perfectly fine for a prototype, but from my experiences with the non-native elements of the Flash UI and the Fireworks UI are horrible to work in. ...

Just how bad is Flash on Android? →
It’s like a bad joke, the Android browsing experience is already pretty clunky looking when you sit it next to the iPhone and the huge black rectangles jumping around the page a 5 frames too late as it struggles to redraw really doesn’t help. Looks completely hacked in and half arsed, this is supposed to be Adobes flagship mobile product and this is the best they can deliver? ...

Install trial, fuck up computer. →
Good few people installing Adobe trials and then having issues with the Akamai system they use apparently slowing their net access and spamming the console log with messages. Great job Adobe and Akamai! What sort of utter moron considers this as a suitable uninstall command admintool uninstall -force Firstly “admintool” sounds ominous and secondly “-force” just...

A Real Web Designer Application - Jason Santa... →
Great discussion about the idea of a web design application from yet more people finally seeing that a photo editor perhaps isn’t the best choices to design web pages in. I’d argue a decent number of the points are already taken care of in Fireworks but I’d definitely agree the CS3/CS4 stability, Adobes disinterest and general feel of clunkiness puts most people off ever finding...

Good Photoshop CS6 wishlist →
Excellent suggestions for CS6 from iOS/OS X application developer Marc at Bjango. While a lot of these are solved in Fireworks I can understand the frustration when the majority of the worlds UI designers use Photoshop. It’s completely crazy that Photoshop doesn’t have decent rounded corner controls. To quote Steve Jobs “Rectangles with rounded corners are everywhere! Just look...

Photoshop CS5 8 corner resizing
Noticed the Photoshop team has scrapped the Windows style 8 corner resizing on document windows with this version. Bit strange to see them backtrack like that, it’s still present in the most of the other apps though

Copying and pasting from Illustrator to Fireworks no longer works in CS5, no error or anything it just doesn’t paste. Illustrator CS4 to Fireworks CS5 still works however…

Photoshop CS5 faked window oversights
Not only are the close/zoom/minimize widgets positioned wrong on the Photoshop CS5 document windows, but also Adobe missed out the capability to double click a title bar to minimize it. I’ve said it many times, if your team lacks the attention to detail to correctly duplicate an interface then for god sake don’t fake interfaces.
